"Sarah supported me before, during and after my labor and delivery! I really wanted to have a VBAC and got cleared by the hospital to do so. I had a great group of midwives who strongly suggested a doula for more home and hospital support. The second night of laboring at home, my water broke at 11:30pm. We arrived to the hospital at midnight and Sarah arrived shortly after! I labored for nearly another 24 hours in the hospital before baby was born at 11:06pm. And I had a successful VBAC!! Sarah was amazing! I was nervous since I had already broken my water so early in labor (I was only 2cm). Sarah reassured me throughout a very long day. She walked the halls up and down 100 times with me. She made me tea and made sure I was comfortable. She served as a mediator between me and my significant other when it seemed like he always said the wrong thing. She helped me focus on my breathing techniques. She gave me strength and told me I could do it when I wanted to give up. Right after my baby was born, he had to be brought to the table to get suctioned to clear the airways. After he starting crying, the nurses began to wrap him up in blankets. The nurse then asked DAD if he wanted to hold the baby. Sarah suggested to bring that baby over to me and take all those blankets off him! Then baby was placed right on my bare chest where he belonged for some crucial skin to skin time. I was exhausted after pushing for nearly an hour and I'm so thankful Sarah was there to tell them what I wanted when I wasn't able to. She then suggested to get the baby to latch, so I did, thus beginning our amazing bond and breastfeeding journey. I was so happy!!! Baby was born Christmas Eve! The day we got home (the 26th) everyone wanted to come over and bring presents and spend "Christmas" with us. Sarah was there to tell everyone nicely that mommy and baby needed space. Again, she was my reinforcer. I am so grateful to have had her there."
